A Friend Worth Having

My friend, Eddie TheSavage Abbew, is phenomenal. Eddie has a few years on me. And the shape he's in is beyond words. In a society that lives through fads and as we see in movies today people going in and out of shape, outside of the bodybuilding world, I wonder if people appreciate what it takes to be in this type of shape. Every time Eddie posts a new pic or video, I find myself drawn to it. 

Having a family, owning his own gym, consistently finding time for others and maintaining the build that he possesses. But it's not just the external look, it's the internal, mental, physical and spiritual health that sets him apart. And on one last note, I have stretched most of my life. I chose this pic because I wanted to show that you can hold this amount of mass, but do something amazing as the splits, being that flexible, which to me speaks of an all around full circle whole hearted discipline and passion for health and zest for life.

 But not only for his own because if you take the time to watch his videos he spends an abundance of his time helping others. With having health issues myself, he is truly giving a gift to people as so many of us take our all around health for granted. So I applaud and thank you Eddie. Oh one last thing, to me it also shows no matter how old you are in life, or what you do, if you do it with heart, the sky's the limit. And for my friends who are not into bodybuilding, yes Eddie is a pro, literally, and gives a great example of what bodybuilding is, a lifestyle, the epitome of health.

Remember When?

Remember when the Disney Theme was all it took to make you happy? When I was a boy and I would hear that come on the tv I would get so excited. A feeling of elation and peace. Oh the simple days of youth.

Julie Kavner the Voice of Marge Simpson

I suppose today is anecdote day. Most of you probably know that the voice of Marge Simpson is Julie Kavner. I have family all over the world and several homes, some my wife and I own, some we rent. Some were passed down from family members after their death. A small amount of my family lives in Northern Michigan. At one time Michigan had more, as we call them now, celebrities to come out of it than any other state. Of course, many musicians, especially from the Motown era. 

A large amount of athletes and actors that have had great success. Recently my wife and I had visited family in Michigan. It is not the same place at all. In Northern Michigan, there's specifically one place that most people come to visit which is Traverse City. We have the most beautiful part of Lake Michigan and easy access through many beaches to it, and the third most beautiful and cleanest lake on this planet called Torch Lake. So getting to my anecdote. It is amazing the people who have made their living through entertainment that live in a very tiny area called Torch Lake, MI. 

My mother and father who reside in this area. Through my father's business, he meets a lot of these people. As my wife and I are musicians and have acted occasionally, we have met many of these people, but did not know they resided in the area of Northern Michigan. One of these people is Julie Kavner. One of my father's employees who is quite young; his family has a farm in this area. As my father was going to pick up his employee one day, there is a farm with many different animals right next to his employee's parent's farm. My father had came to visit my wife and I as we were vacationing at our summer home which is only about a mile from my parents' home.

He said, I want you two to meet someone. At first I did not really want to go, because he would not tell me who it was. So we follow my father out to his employee's farm. The neighbor everyday would come out to feed her chickens. And as my father had previously talked to this person, he had gained the knowledge of the times that she would tend to her animals. So my wife and I were walking around the farm and we started hearing this lady yelling and my father says, who does that sound like? the whole time knowing what was going on. Instantly I replied, That person sounds exactly like Marge Simpson. So we walked over to the next lot to the other farm and though I did not recognize her. My father introduced me to the lady, she said My name is Julie. 

I replied, do you know if the person who does Marge Simpson's voice ever dies you would make a perfect replacement?

 And she said no I wouldn't because I am the person who does Marge Simpson's voice. I thought my father and Julie were putting me on. 

What I did not know this whole time was my wife was getting on the internet to look up the name and face of the person who does Marge Simpson's voice. My wife shows me the picture on the phone and low and behold, yes, it is Julie Kavner. It's not a great anecdote. The most surprising part to me was the Julie and her husband lived on a farm not five miles from my summer home and raised animals . This had happened quite recently. What I did find out is that they are doing a new Simpsons movie. Some of the inside scoop was given to me that the whole cast was ready to go except for one member. The one member was in contract dispute because of the audacity of the movie studio. 

But that's another story. What I also found out was that this one cast member does over 20 of the voices for the Simpsons. Julie even offered up the amount of money that she had made from the Simpsons which was in the 8 figures. And that apparently this new movie that might turn into another tv series for a short period will pay more than what she has made over the last 20 some odd years. One interesting little fact, when doing most of the shows for the last several years they had gotten it down to perfection. So the equipment was set up in Julie's home in the small little town of Torch Lake. She would do the voice over in her farm house. Without ever having to leave the comfort of her own home. What I found interesting was how she had gotten involved in the Simpsons in the first place. But if you like the story I will share that with you for another time. That's it.

Caitlyn Jenner... Thoughts?

I am curious if anyone has an opinion on the former Bruce Jenner who is now Caitlyn Jenner. I have much to say on this topic, but I will spare you all. Obviously, it's not something that a large amount of people can relate to. The only opinion I wanted to share was about his family. I am not a follower of the Jenners or Kardashians, but my wife and I do occasionally watch the show. My opinion and question is this, all of our families are odd in their own way. 

My opinion of their family is not relevant at this point, my opinion on what they must be feeling as if I put myself in their shoes, I would imagine it would be quite confusing. For instance if 40 years from now my wife wanted to become a man. My question is this, is it selfish? Many times in life, we don't feel a part of a greater purpose. Sometimes we feel empty or lost. 

Self sacrifice is a very difficult choice and I mean choice. When getting to that age, which she is now 65, is it better to do for yourself to have happiness or to provide your loved ones happiness by sacrificing your own wants, not needs, for your loved ones? As this is a media frenzy right now, I wanted to comment. I try not to get involved in other people's lives if it does not directly effect me or my loved ones in the negative. But Miss Jenner has come out to the world. Obviously wanting to know our opinion. 

Dealing with serious issues, especially health throughout my life, I find the world to be surrounded by lunacy.If we were to debate about this, we could go on forever about the contradictions. My other question is this, and it's very simple did people think about this before science, biology and technology allowed us to take action to change our gender. As a former doctor, I want to add one last thing, the dangers of a 65 year old former man taking an abundant dose of estrogen is very dangerous. Certainly shortening his/her lifespan by at least 10-15 years. So it comes down to one last question: Do you believe it's worth it?

 There are too many components to simply say yes or no. But sometimes that is the only option we have. As I've stated, I don't bother myself with these things as I have my own life to live. But for some reason this has struck a chord with me. I find it quite interesting. Most likely the media buzz will fade. The negative and the positive remarks will stop. But obviously this will continue on through the tv show Keeping up with the Kardashians and she will have her own show. Which I find quite interesting. 

On a personal note: as I do not want to judge Caitlyn Jenner, I was raised old school and I believe there is a degree to each their own. What I find very interesting is how fame and fortune/infamy can change people. For instance, my father, who is a few years younger, growing up in the same era, does not have much to say about this, but what he does say would not be politically correct. I have sacrificed much of my life. So I will end with this, if this came upon me, would I choose to do what I wanted? Or what my family needed? and it is an easy choice. The hearts, minds and spirits, the well being of my family will always come before my wants. Simply stating that this choice is not a need. It is not life or death. It is simply that. A choice.

We at GSET started this page to put the social back in social media. To‪#‎CareAndShare‬ and Connect with each other. We have been observing our Twitter page and what is lost is the interaction between the friends on the page. We tweet occasionally, but our goal is to take people's personal stories and connect them with other blogs, Twitter pages, Face book pages, and websites, including ours which will be underway soon. We did not want our page to just be random tweets. We have enough of those. Everyone has an incredible story. A wonderful story and a tragic story. I believe most people want to be heard. We are in the process of starting this. We want everyone to be a part of it. When the page becomes extremely successful, obviously more people will want to be a part of this process. But we need all of you to get on the ground floor with us. As stated some time ago on our founder's blog page that is now turned over to the GSET team we have a mission of connecting everyone. That fame and fortune should not be the only way to have your story heard or to get the help you need. We've also stated that our founder who has endured extreme health problems is releasing a movie and album. We imagine that when this happens our pages will be flooded, We all have an opportunity to change the world through our stories. To help each other. Please do not let this pass by. As our resources advance there will be more of an opportunity for everyone to connect, to interact. We were hoping that this would happen on it's own. Within the people that follow the GSET page. We only have 12 people working for us. And as we are still in preparation with so many sites, we have not even been able to keep up on following those who have followed our page. But that is only short term. This will branch off into many different venues including GTRecords. which we will be taking submissions for people's music and trying to help everyone in all fields of life. We are a land of many, we are a land of 1000 dances. Please join us.
